Frequently Asked Questions:
Hiring a new Siding Contractor can be daunting, which is why I’ve compiled a list of some of the most common questions I get from new clients. If your question isn’t answered, please feel free to get in touch and I’ll help you as much as I can.

How far are you booked out? When will you get started?
Aspen leads with QUALITY, first and foremost. NOT SPEED. It takes us, on average 3-4 weeks to finish a house and we're typically 3-4 months out any given time of year. Our CDA and North Idaho siding installation crews work diligently and conscientiously to complete your project as quickly as possible, but it's a big, labor intensive job and we take great pride in it. We don't have, nor do we boast about having 10 Post Falls and Hayden siding installation crews and how fast we can turn a job. We pride ourselves in being a Boutique siding installation company that nurtures each job individually, not corporately. It's simply NOT POSSIBLE for our owner to monitor quality with 10 siding installation crews in 10 different Spokane neighborhoods. Volume is not an asset unless you're wanting to install Builder Grade siding on low-quality cookie cutter homes.

Why do the other companies we talk to "poo-poo" the ColorPlus siding?
Simply put ... they don't have the skilled employees who want to install it. They rarely have guys who will even handle fiber cement trims because they're so heavy. So they trash the product and try to sell you on builder's grade siding that is easy for them to install but NOT BEST FOR YOU!! When they're paying cheap hourly labor to guy's who really don't care nor have skin in the game ... the home owner is not going to get top notch materials and definitely not top notch quality. We feel that, ultimately, the homeowner should decide what they want their Coeur d'Alene siding installers to put on their home - not the installers. When this is the case, they're going to take the low road and install the cheapest materials they can sell you on. Trust me. I know. I have personally trained hundreds of installers in the region. I have hand-picked less than 10 that want to work for me and provide the end product I expect and Exteriors By Aspen's client's deserve. Bottom Line.

What is Exteriors By Aspen responsible for when it comes to our siding project?
Almost everything! On a full siding replacement job we will replace all the siding, soffit, fascia (or wrap with aluminum), trim. We replace the garage jambs most of the time, install new garage door gaskets, install new exhaust fan covers, new all-weather plug covers, house address numbers, a new doorbell, and even new attic vents. The only thing we cannot do is re-install the exterior lights because of licensing and insurance requirements.

My Coeur d'Alene house doesn't have housewrap on it ... do you install that?
Absolutely! Every house we work on gets a fresh weather resistive barrier installed! We use branded James Hardie 'HardieWrap' as well as branded James Hardie flashing tapes. You will NEVER see ANY economy wraps or flashings used on our James Hardie installs. We do use a builder's grade wrap on our vinyl jobs because most vinyl jobs are primarily driven by budget concerns and being acutely aware of how to trim the budget here and there is appreciated by some of our clients in Hayden, Rathdrum and surrounding areas.

Do you clean up as you work?
Yes! We have 2 giant dump trailers that shuffle between jobs and chances are one of those will be on-site the entire time we are working on your home. If we aren't using a dump trailer we will have a 20 yard roll-off waste container delivered to handle all the trash details.

What types of siding do you install in Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls?
We install all types of siding, depending on budget. From least to most on a volume basis, the list would be Metal the least, then wood, vinyl and by far the most is fiber cement. Pre-painted James Hardie ColorPlus fiber cement is far and away the what we install the most.

Does fiber cement siding have an insulation values?
I would be lying to you if I said yes. Fiber cement siding has no R-value in itself, however, we can provide you with several things that will help your home feel more comfortable. What we install standard is new housewrap with taped seams and perimeters of your windows taped (caulked and taped if replacements). This will also offer no R-value, however, we can add R-value from as little as an R-2 to an R-6 (or higher) by installing rigid foam exterior insulation. There are many things to consider with these installs so let's talk about what's best for you at our initial consultation!

What forms of payment do you take for Spokane siding installations?
We take lots of types of payments! From credit cards to crypto to cash money!

How long are your appointments to measure my house?
Short and sweet! We take as long as you need and answer any questions you may have, however, we realize your time is valuable so we certainly don't wear out our welcome. Warning!!! Some of these guys will show up and stick around for 3 or 4 hours. Yep - HOURS. They think if they hang out long enough you'll just sign the damn contract so they'll leave. We're not a "one call close" company. This is a huge decision and understand it takes time to decide on what is right for the job and who's right to complete it.
